I am trying to find the “assembly day” and “ship day” of serial 0600. The LOA that I received from Ruger just gives the Month and Year for production and shipping of October, 1949. Anyone by chance know how I can find out the exact day, or is this info lost for all time? Thanks

Hello arcticruger,

When I saw your inquiry, I got curious and decided to search through the notes that I have from the research phase in 2005-2006 for my book Ruger Pistols & Revolvers. I found #0600 was Inspected and available to ship (production date) on Tuesday October 25, 1949, shipped October 27, 1949. I hope this helps.

P.S. I will look forward to a nice article about #0600 with some photos of it for the RCA JOURNAL.

Wow, you made my day, thank you so much! I’ve been trying to find that information for some time. I’m still tracing it’s history and previous owners to the best of my ability. Finding out little bits here and there. Oh, and I did find out from your book that #0600 was not shipped with a cod box.
