Rare casting
Re: Rare casting
This frame is from the first batch of castings used with Single-Sixes #1 to 2000! The bottom is not stamped 12/55, it is stamped 12/53!!!!
The earliest Single-Six frames 1-2000 were different than later production. There was a short plateau added to the breech face over the area of the firing pin bushing on later frames so that they wouldn't have to "broach" finish the entire surface area of the breech face. The ratchet area of the breech face on those early frames also has different deetail than later production.
Somebody got a real gem!!!
