Ruger Million Dollar Gun Challenge Case Knife and Coin. Mint Condition!

Post by TheUGARoadDawg »

Digging into some old Boxes in my closet, I stumbled across many items I received as a Buyer and Director of Purchasing. I held these positions among others, during my 20 odd years for what was, at the time, the Nations largest Sporting Goods Distributor. I’ll just give the initials as EB…if you know, you know.

The item No. is 28800 on this Commemorative Case Knives Red Trapper and Coin Set, dated 04/10/2012.

I’m just wondering if anyone has further information on this run of Knives. How many were made? How is the Collector's market on these? Is there additional information available regarding these in general?

It would just be nice to share as much information as possible to my son or daughter who will end up with this item one day (hopefully a long way away, but we never know Gods plan for us).

Thanks in advance for any help understanding more about this challenge as well as the Knife and Coin Set.

I think I remember hearing about those back then. The only problem is I think only distributors got those. Not sure any even made it to collectors hands. It is hard to tell how many were produced, maybe CASE would have that info.
There's another note, two posts below this one, of a special sales achievement belt buckle. Never heard of that one before now. So really, value also depends on demand.

Thanks Chet. It may have, in fact, been limited to our company. We were the promotion/spiff kings back in the day. We were the largest Sporting Goods Distributor in the nation, by a good margin. I wouldn’t doubt we could have sold million dollars in a day had we had decent inventory and good Sales spiffs for the day. It was something to behold, lol.

I’ll call some old friends at Case and maybe they can shed some light on it. I’m not sure any of my Ruger guys are still there.

Thanks again!
