Fairly early model P85

I have a fairly early Ruger P85 I am wanting to sell. Can someone give me an idea of its value and collectability? I was planning to gift it to my daughter, but she doesn't want it. It has less than 500 rounds down the barrel, and I might still have the original shipping box for it.

From what I could see, by using the GunBroker COMPLETED auctions section it could be worth anywhwere from $250 to 300 dollars. If the original box is available you could probably add another $25-$30. As for collectability, it might be worth more to a serious P series pistol collector if it is in very good to excellent condition and has everything that originally came with it.

It is in as close to mint condition as having fired and cleaned it is possible. I am not usually a fan of modern pistols, but I really have loved all my Ruger revolvers. I got it when it first came out originally but only recently fired it and it just doesn't do anything for me.

For a lot of Ruger owners the P series pistols go from "I can't stand it" to "I love it". I have a few and I really like them, to me, they shoot good, handle well, and just don't seem to break. Are they "pretty", nope, a bit odd looking, yep, but they function just like they are suppose to and almost flawlessly.

If you wanted to sell it, I don't think you'd have any problem finding a buyer, especially if you put it up for sale here or any Ruger forum.

Thank you, sir, I will discuss the idea of posting it for sale on this site. I would want to run it through my son-in-law's shop to ensure I don't get a visit from ATF.

I am an FFL. You can legally sell firearms over the internet. If the buyer is a resident of the same state as you are, you must follow all your states firearms laws and all applicable federal laws. If the buyer is from out of state, the firearm must be shipped to a FFL in the buyers state to be transferred following that states laws as well as all applicable federal laws. Since it is a handgun, shippng to an out of state FFL is easiest done by using a FFL local to you, they will (should) know the shipping laws. The shipping FFL will charge you a fee to do the shipping which would include the shipping/insurance cost plus their fee.
