Re: Ruger Million Dollar Gun Challenge Case Knife and Coin. Mint Condition!
I think I remember hearing about those back then. The only problem is I think only distributors got those. Not sure any even made it to collectors hands. It is hard to tell how many were produced, maybe CASE would have that info. There's another note, two posts below this one, of a special sales ach...

Re: Rifle Production Numbers by Model
Not definitive yet... but I am working on it. A few months ago I did an article in Red Eagle News Exchange on stainless number 1's with production quantities (units shipped). And I am slowly going backward in Ruger's serial number lookup page for this kind of info on the Number 1. One thing of note ...

Neat Number 1
Here's a neat #1 rifle that is for sale at the Rogers, MN Cabela's. Serial numbered 131-30171 it has an additional extra number at the bottom front of the receiver, "L78-000X". This receiver evidently was originally numbered as a prototype to the Lyman Centennial Rifle in 1978. When it did...

Re: First year No.1 308
I emailed with Lee Newton about the article he wrote. He says less than 7500 before the Gun Control Act of 1968. I agree with you not common. Yeah, I use the quantity 8,500 because serial numbering on those receivers went to 8437. How many of those receivers were actually turned into rifles and shi...

Re: 70th anniversary mark IV sample
That's not the half of it. Just looked up 500094794 on Ruger's serial number lookup page and it comes back as Ruger' model 40104, a 4-3/4" standard model.
I'm thinking there might be two guns with the same serial number.

Re: First year No.1 308
Any non-prefix Number 1 rifle is not common as there were less than 8,500 produced. But as far as non-prefix guns go, the .308 is one of the two most common calibers along with the .222. In my Reference of Ruger Firearms I estimated roughly 850 guns in .308. These are composed of at least 8 differen...
