I looked at a gun that letters GS-33, has Pachmayr compact grips with Ruger medallions and has a serial number later than GS-33PS range(162-30xxx). The barrel sure looks like a 3" but the underside barrel taper doesn't extend to the muzzle like my 3" GS-83. The barrel taper looks like the heavy version vs tapered. All the GS-33PS I've seen have the same barrel as my GS-83. Is this an over run or made for another agency or no way to tell? What might be the value be vs a lettered GS-33PS. Thanks for taking time to read this. Any light you could shed on this will be appreciated.

If it letters as a GS-33, the letter should also say where it was originally shipped to.  With that information that might help us DA collectors determine it if was an overrun from the USPS contract or was made for a different contract.  All of the USPS Sixes I hve every seen, the "underlug" taper went to the very front of the barrel.
