0 Replies and 5525 Views Mis-alinged barrel or rib  5525  0 Started by  Col. F. Bina I recently purchased on older NIB Number 1 in 45-70 (medium sporter barrel). The gun is in flawless condition except for one thing. The barrel is about 1/15th of a turn off dead center (front and rear sights line up ever so slightly to the left). This can be seen visually, but also where the rib meets the breach, it is slightly off center (to the left). I have not yet shot it, so I can not speak to the issue of how this may affect accuracy - however, since both sights line up with each oth...

0 Replies and 6451 Views Photoengraving  6451  0 Started by  d findley In the late 70s Ruger was experimenting with ''photoengraving'' (etching). A guy by the name of Bill Faringer was hired. Faringer had a lot of experience with firearms etching, mostly on special editions. I believe he had worked at Winchester and Savage. Jim Triggs was in charge of drawing the patterns, Bill F. doing the etching, Triggs eventually took the whole operation over. It was dropped after only a few guns had been embellished. Here are a couple of original Factory papers on the subject.

0 Replies and 7266 Views 404 Jeffery  7266  0 Started by  Overkill I've been looking on some information regarding Ruger's No. 1 rifle and ran across this forum. I'm hopeful that somebody could provide any information regarding the scarcity of a recent No. 1 Tropical that I ran across chambered to 404 Jeffery. The rifle appears to be factory made and unfired but I've been unable to locate any details regarding it's history. Seems no one has seen one before in these parts. So how about it, anyone have a clue on these or where I could find any further informa...

0 Replies and 5790 Views Ruger No. 3 with receiver sight  5790  0 Started by  RugerHound I'm hoping someone might be able to answer a question for me. I have a No.3 chambered in .375 Win, SN 132-10880. The rifle has a receiver sight (Peep) that I haven't been able to identify. Did Ruger ever ship a rifle from the factory with such a sight or was that added as an aftermarket addition Thanks! &91img&93http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r157/Zoodirt/Ruger20No20320-2037520Win/img_4060_Resized.jpg&91/img&93 &91img&93http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r157/Zoodirt/Ruger...

0 Replies and 4273 Views CHP Association No. 1  4273  0 Started by  ghostrider My wife has a No. 1 Limited Edition California Highway Patrol Association in .357mag, unfired, in its box (not a presentation box). She got it from her grandfather but doesn't know how he came to own it or anything about it. She's interested in possibly selling it but I can't seem to find anyone who can appraise it or give her a good value for it. I've done searches on the auction sites but haven't found anything in a .357mag. It seems an odd calibre for rifle, but I'm told that it's not unc...

0 Replies and 4950 Views My No1 and what can I learn about it  4950  0 Started by  gew98 I have always liked massive single shot rifles. Over ten years ago I prompted my father to get one... and he did A No1 in 45/70. He passed away a couple years later. I recently got the bug about shooting it - I used to load 300 grain HP's for it for my dad , but being I have a couple marlin 95's I really fancied shooting those 405 and 500 grainers I cast out of it. Seems the No1 I have really was not designed for those type of bullets. Anyhow I am toying with th eidea of having it rebarreled ...

0 Replies and 7788 Views Re: Rare Early No.1 rifles  7788  0 Started by  RugerNo1 I sent you a pm about my Ruger No. 1 and since have done some additional research into how rare it is. It's the .222 with the serial number is a 4 digit but starts with 76XX. From the best that I can tell it has a semi-beavertail forearm. I read on one forum that it's rare for the checkered patter to be on the underside of the forearm which mine does. It's the 26'' barrel without sights and does have scope mounts. The history of the gun is such. I traded for it from a guy who has owned it for ...

0 Replies and 6535 Views Ruger 1's  6535  0 Started by  bigdogstud60 I am a new member. Just signed up on 5/11/10. I like all the Rugers but started collecting the 1's I think 3 years ago. Trying to get all the variations that I can. So far got 51 different ones. I have located a 4 digit 222 in a 1 B. I think it is in very good condition. Just wondering if someone could give me a guess on its worth I have bought 4 1's from this person and they have been in excellent condition.

Clayton  11468  0 Started by  RugerNo1 I would think that everyone with a serious interest in the Ruger No.1 rifle, whether collecting, shooting or hunting, would have a copy of this book. But, did you know there are 5 different editions *1st Edition -Numbered-500 copies *1st Edition -Trade *1st Edition -Leather-100 copies *1st Edition -Special Leather-100 copies, but JDC believes only about 10 were made up. This Edition only has green leather (4.5''x7'') on the front with Title & Author in gold. The binding appears to be a...
