0 Replies and 11281 Views Police Service Six .38 FIVE inch barrel  11281  0 Started by  pwf Hello all, I am new to this forum. I have in my possession a blue Police Service Six .38 SPL with a FIVE inch barrel. From what research I have been able to do on other forums, some time in the mid-1980s Ruger made up a small run of prototype 5'' guns for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, who were then thinking about replacing their aging 5'' Smith Model 10s. In the end the RCMP went to autos, so no sales were made beyond the initial prototypes. From what I have found out 150 guns were made,...

0 Replies and 8790 Views Police Servie Six  8790  0 Started by  curries103 I recently picked up a blue, 4'', .38spl Police Service Six. Interestingly it has a large Pachmayr grip with no markings/medallions on the sides and lanyard loop. I can't find any information on line or any markings on it indicating it was re-imported. I've sent to Ruger for a letter for this one but not finding anything elsewhere. Anybody know who this configuration may have been made for

0 Replies and 9968 Views Security Six Polished Stainless  9968  0 Started by  JMullis I recently traded for a Security Six that is polished stainless, It's a 1976 ''Liberty'' model. The owner said it has been in his safe for about 20 years and he bought it from the original owner. He said the finish is factory, and I tend to believe that, nothing is washed out by buffing, edges are very sharp, definitely a professional job. On the other hand, is it a factory finish I looked closely in the crevices, etc and I can't see any discrepancy. I used to own a 1976 stainless but it was t...

0 Replies and 7107 Views Trade malfunction, or potential trade malfunction…  7107  0 Started by  GarandThumb I was in Tucson today and as usual I find an excuse to go to the gun shops and the indoor range. I got some gratis range time and decided to try out the Rock Island Officer’s Model .45 which hasn’t been out of the box since my Gunsmith in Benson had a go at it. (It’s fine but the Federal P load prints too low for my tastes, mental note for some new sights.) There’s a guy a few stalls over shooting a 30 shot .22 Magnum Semi Auto pistol. Everything’s polite and we are having a superb time of i...

0 Replies and 6427 Views Ruger special order/custom or not ?  6427  0 Started by  Dave45 I picked up a 1977 Police Service Six 357 mag. It's stainless with a 2'' barrel, the grip frame is short and about half size of a standard frame with a round butt and hammered back strap. The serial is inside the yoke and not on the butt. I removed the grip panels and inspected the frame and found no evidence of it being cut or altered by a gunsmith. The panels have a part on them so I called Ruger and asked if it was a good and they told me it was but didn't have them anymore. I've submit...

0 Replies and 6763 Views Re: Gun Digest 1973  6763  0 Started by  Boschloper Actually, this revolver does exist. It was engraved by Alvin White for Bill Ruger. I have a sketch of the engraving somewhere, and the serial of this revolver, that I obtained from Larry Wilson many years ago. This revolver was auctioned off some time back to support some favorite benefit of WBR and was bought by the late Jerry Lee Wilson. I believe it to still be in the Wilson Estate.

0 Replies and 7085 Views Red Hawk .41 Magnum  7085  0 Started by  Night Fox Hello. I'm new to RCA. I have recently bought a Red Hawk .41 Magnum in stainless with 7.5'' barrel. I absolutely love this revolver (it's my first Ruger other than a 10/22). Does anyone know how many of these were manufactured I spoke with the Ruger facility in NH, but they couldn't tell me. I don't see this caliber very often and it's even tough getting ammo for, so I'm assuming it's pretty scarce. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

0 Replies and 6802 Views CHP Security Six  6802  0 Started by  jwdix Back in the early 80's my Dad gave me a Ruger Security Six in 38sp. only stainless. I have a copy of letter from the department of Calfornia Highway Patrol to Doerr Distributing company inc. saying they changed there minds about buying the 500 Ruger's because of safety reasons. So the 500 made for CHP were never shipped, but they were made. I have one, it's stamped CHP has adjustable rear site and 6in barrel. The gun is new unfired in the box. Just wondering the value Thanks, Jerry Id...

0 Replies and 6036 Views Ruger SP101 Department of State Edition, please help  6036  0 Started by  ChMI101 I have always wanted a Ruger SP101 and recently I had the opportunity to trade for one. I now own a Ruger SP101 in 38 Special and it is DAO. It appears this SP101 is a Department of State Edition. It has a polished stainless finish and has a skeletonized spur trigger. Through my research I was able to verify via the serial number and shell casing it was made in 2006. The only other thing I know is it is a Department of State Edition. The catalog is: KSP-821DOS. I emailed Ruger and they were no...
