RUGER COLLECTORS DISPLAY SHOW

EIGHTH ANNUAL HARRISBURG SHOW

Bill Hamm

I want to take this opportunity to thank C&E Gun Shows for hosting us for our eighth year in Harrisburg. It was a great venue with about 850 table width="600"s. They were extremely accommodating to the R.C.A. and we certainly appreciated it!! If you're ever in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area, stop by one of the C&H shows. You can find more information by visiting their website at www.cegunshows.com

Special thanks go to Matt Olivier for planning and orchestrating the Display and Trade table width="600" setup, planning the Awards Dinner and really fun Auction. A lot of behind the scenes and on site work is required to make everything flow smoothly, and Matt has done a superb job for the last eight years!!! That being said, at our dinner Matt announced that he was retiring as the show coordinator and hoped that someone else would step up and coordinate future shows. We will sure miss him in that role but now he will be able to come to the shows and enjoy them like the rest of us have the past eight years.

Wayne Dennis has done an outstanding job as our Auctioneer over these last eight years! Wayne energetic auctioning methods helped us collect needed funds to finance our great awards. I really hope that Wayne will continue to exercise his auctioneering skills at next year's venue, where ever it might be!!

Jay Hansen and Dalia Lev from the RCA attended the show this year. At the awards banquet, Jay read a Winchester Arms job application from none other than William Batterman Ruger himself! Sure glad that he did not end up working for them!!

There were 11 displayers again this year, and all brought really outstanding displays of our beloved Ruger firearms and memorabilia. I want to personally thank all of them for their hard work and efforts to bring out some of their finest items for our viewing and enjoyment.

The Harrisburg Display Show Fund was used to purchase an SR22 All Blue Talo special for each displayer as an award for their hard work! It was also used to purchase additional firearms for the auction to help build a displayer's fund for the next show.

We want to thank all of the folks that generously donated items for our auction that takes place after our Awards Dinner, Without these donations and the purchase discussed above there would be no Harrisburg Display Show funds and no prizes for the displayers.

The First Place winners for Intermediate and Advanced class were awarded a one-year membership from the Ruger Collectors Association and the Red Eagle News Exchange. RENE also awarded a one-year membership for "Best Ruger of Show".
