Ruger Collectors Display Show - Tulsa, OK, Nov 12-14, 2010

The Ruger Collectors Association (RCA) will once again be hosting our Annual Fall Display show in Tulsa, OK on November 12-14, 2010, in conjunction with the Joe Wannenmacher's great Tulsa Arms Show (www.tulsaarmsshow.com)

If you haven't been to this fantastic gun show, you will be in for a treat. I have had the opportunity to attend hundreds of different shows throughout the years and this is the only show that keeps me up with excitement the night before the show. The show is held at the Tulsa Fairgrounds, an 11-acre, 2-level, air conditioned building that holds 4100 or so tables...something like 5 miles of tables! There is something there for everyone.

The promoter is kind enough to provide display tables, at a discounted rate, for us Ruger collectors. As in the past, displayers are required to contact the show promoter directly and register with them for a display or trade table. Registration can be made by either downloading the registration form from their website or calling them at 918-492-0401. When registering, please be sure to let them know that you are with the Ruger Collectors. This will ensure that your assigned table is with the other Ruger collectors.

Set-up for displayers is on Friday, November, 12, 2010 starting at 10AM. The show is open to the public on Saturday, November 13th and Sunday, November 14th.

As in past years, the RCA has secured a block of rooms for all attendees. However, the hotel has changed. This year, we will be staying at the Courtyard Tulsa Central:

Courtyard Tulsa Central
3340 South 79th East Avenue
Tulsa, OK 74145
1-918-660-0646

This hotel is just behind the old hotel where we used to stay (Sleep Inn, on 33rd and Memorial). The change was made because of feedback from the last few shows where attendees felt the quality of the accomodations of the old hotel had declined.

The RCA has secured a block of 20 rooms. Rates will be $79 per night and are valid for any night from Nov 10th to Nov 15th, allowing for someone to come in a few days early or stay a few days late and still get the discounted RCA rate. Attendees are encouraged to call the hotel and make a reservation as soon as possible as the block of rooms will only be held until October 28th, or if the 20 rooms are booked up. When calling, please let them know you are with the "Ruger Collectors" group and you will get the assigned discounted rate. Cancellations are due by 6PM on the day of arrival.

Also in a change from past year, the annual RCA banquet will be held at 6:30PM at the hotel. The RCA has arranged for the hotel staff to have a dinner catered for us. It will be held in the hotel's dining room and will cost $30 per person. This all-inclusive rate includes your meal, drink (iced tea/water) and tip.

Since this is a catered affair, reservations are required by October 28th so that I can give the hotel an accurate headcount. Payment will be due at the banquet so there is no prepayment needed. Please email or call me to confirm your planned attendance.

Lastly, and once again, the RCA will be holding a fund raising auction after the banquet, at the hotel, on Saturday night. 100% of the profits will go to the RCA Display Show fund to help run the display shows, the NRA show, fund trophies, improve the recruitment tables, get member badges, table covers, raffles, prizes, etc. Recent prizes for displayers have included a few firearms (SR-22, 41 mag Flat-top, 77/17, 10/22, etc...) and we would like to be able to continue to encourage, and reward, displayers.

Rules are simple. Opening bid on all items, except firearms, is $5. Firearms will have a reasonable opening bid to be determined based on the gun. No reserves, no absentee bidding,

no phone bids, you have to be present to bid. Payment due at the end of the auction, cash or check. Winning bidders take their item home with them, except for firearms, which will need to be shipped to an FFL.

I would like to take the opportunity to solicit you for donations for this auction. Please let me know by PM or email (in my profile) if there is anything that you would like to donate. No item is too small. We simply ask that you ship the item to me (or my FFL if a gun) so that we can have it in hand, document it in the master auction list, and catalog it for the auction. We will have a list of items available for people at the show. We will then bring all items with me to the show and set up the auction before dinner. We will have our banquet on Saturday night allowing everyone to inspect all of the items and then have our auction after dinner.

Thanks in advance for helping to continue to improve our great hobby! I look forward to seeing some of you again, and meeting some of you for the first time!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 610-216-8624 (leave a message if I don't answer and I will return your call) or email me at rcadisplayshows@gmail.com and I will get back to you.

See you in Tulsa!!
