New to Me Red Label

Post by Rugers4Jcc » Mon Mar 18, 2019 7:56 pm

I just purchased 401-02404

1/3 coverage factory engraved 20 gage. Is there any record of who the engraver was and when the engraving was done? INTERESTING INFORMATION if I can get it.

thanks..

I am pleased and surprised. My list of the ones that got away is pretty long.

I Contacted Ruger and I contacted Adams and Adam s engraving. John Adams Jr. has been documented as the engraver who Embellished this gun as part of a contract with Ruger in the 1990's

So I stumbled on to a new discovery that has lead to a collection of three Red Labels
KRL 2029-b John Adams Jr. Cataloged Ruger Hand Engraved. Catalog 2005 page 19
KRL 2029-50 Anniversary RL with gold Pheasant
KRL 2029-BRE RL with gold Grouse.

I wonder if there are any other variants of Ruger's 20 gauge Red Label?

12 gauge Duck and Pheasant
28 gauge Woodcock

Automated Refinishing identified in letter from Ruger CEO 04/2008 as vendor who completed the Cataloged Engraved Red Labels not to be confused from Cataloged Hand Engraved Red Label shotguns.
