How rare is my Ruger number one?

Post by jljr1944 » Tue Jun 20, 2017 11:30 pm

I have a Ruger number one that was made in 1976. (liberty model) The caliber is 458 win-mag. The rifle has a custom High end monte carlo stock. I can not find another Ruger with this stock anywhere I look on the internet. Did this stock come with the rifle from the factory or is it a add on? If it is a factory stock does anyone know how many number ones were made with this stock in 1976.

Not a number one collector, but, there is something in the back of my mind that tells me that may be a rare bird? I could be wrong.................usually am, but good luck in your quest. A good book is "Ruger and his guns" Breaks down a lot of models and rarity.............Coogs.

your no1 is a Standard 1H (Tropical) model that has been restocked. Looks like maybe a Fajen stock. As far as rarity, other than being made in 1976 and marked as such (200th year of American Liberty) it is a fairly common caliber / model. Being custom stocked might fetch a few more $..but for most Number 1 collectors has limited appeal.
