10/22 Canadian Centennial employee gun

Post by ruger66 » Wed Feb 17, 2010 7:33 pm

This is a gun that I had be looking for a very long time. When Ruger was making the 10/22 Canadian Centennial in late 66 early 67 there was a few flawed guns that was put aside and sold to employee's in a carbine stock. I had never talked to anybody who had seen one or ever heard of them. Last year more then 40 years later one showed up and I was able to buy it. It was shipped more the a year after the project was finished. It letters as a Canadian Centennial special model.

Interesting gun indeed. Do you know what the "flaw" was on these or on this gun? Was it the stocks? Interesting that they were not marked "seconds" if it was in the metal. Great fine for your fantastic collection.

The rumor was they over polished the receivers and the markings were thin. I can't find anything wrong with this gun. The anodizing is black like the real early guns. I think around 66-67 they were doing something different with the anodizing. The receivers were more gray. There was some barrel bands and grip frames also grayish blue. The one on the top is C51. You can see the difference. The employee gun on the bottom is black like the early 2 digit guns.

That is a nice gun. I have one too. Only mine doesn't have the box, it has been fired, and has a few nicks from the safe.
