KGPFNY841

Post by Xringshooter » Mon Oct 01, 2012 3:09 pm

Just got one, born on 1991. Has the rubber grips with the black inserts. Only thing is that a previous owner had it polished to a bright SS. The polish job is pretty good and it is a nice looking gun with next to no dings, bumps, bruises. Since they are somewhat scarce, do you think that I should try to take it back to the matte finish or just leave it polished? Thanks for the inputs.

If it were mine I would see if I could move its finish back toward original. Those are fairly scarce guns.

Well, I wrote to Ruger and they want to see it so they issued me a RMA to send it back for their inspection. I asked them that if it is not correct the way it is if they can redo it to the way it came from the factory. we'll see what happens, it goes out tomorrow and then I wait.

Sounds like Ruger may think it was shipped that way.....it will be interesting to see how it turns out.

It came ba ck from Ruger. They said that it did NOT leave Ruger highly polished. I kinda figured that because I could see parts that were the matte finish that the polisher didn't get. Plus the polish job, while good was not what would have come from Ruger. Here's what it looks like now:

Plus they said they replaced the hammer dog. All at no charge.
