Ruger SP101 Revolvers - Overview

Post by Hassel » Thu Feb 11, 2010 3:46 pm

I have for a time been thinking it would be nice to collect a list of Rugers different models and the variations there of. So I am starting an experiment here. I will list the information I find in the second post in this thread, adding to it if someone comes with more information about listed guns or if there are more variants.

My main source of this list is an ad for ruger revolvers form 1998 i ripped out of an American handgunner magazine.

The upper row tells in what information is in wich order, I am sorry for not figuring out how to make a nice formated table for the list yet.

Ruger started making the SP101 in 1993 and have fielded many models and variants.
Designatin L means that the revolver is spurless and X apperentlu for .357 magnum. The lter I'm not quite sure about, but the ad from 89 states this.

Any information about the sp101 revolvers will be appreciated, so will any sugestions for imprving this overview. Note that so far this is only rugers standard models, not limited editions or distributors specials.

Hassell,

Great start! The 327 Federal is a 3" barrel, not a 2 1/4", I believe.

Also, you can add KSP321-XEN, 2 1/4" 357 mag, factory engraved, with wood grip inserts with Ruger logo.

Hope this helps!

Looking good. There were some GKSPs (the "G" standing for High Polish) made too. 357s and some 9MMs, maybe 38s too. Not sure if all barrel lengths but I believe so. I have a GKSP-921

And silly me thought that: hey I can collect SP101's that won't be too hard... :o
BB45C:
Spot on, I was a bit lazy with copy and paste on the .327 fed. Corrected

Flattop: You don't want that dirty modern shiny gun, put in a gut out book and send it too me as soon as possible! (I still miss having an Envy icon on this forum...)
Regarding the high polished ones, are we sure there were produced both normal and polished or just one of the options?
I have seem some pictures of very shiny guns in some configurations, but not same model in "not so shiny" finish.
But I'm new to this...

Both models, the high polish was just a different offering. Like the one that I have GKSP-921 and the one you listed, KSP-921. Just more polishing on the "G" variant.
Working on the book!1 8-)

Hi. I am new to this forum and this is my first post. My husband introduced me to guns and shooting about 10 years ago. I have a mini 14, a pink/stainless 10/22, and 2 pistols (Mark II and Mark III). Ruger is my favorite gun to shoot. However, I am on the hunt for a gun that I can't seem to find. It is a Talo edition. It is the Ruger KSP-321X Talo Gold 357 with the gold trigger and hammer. From what I can gather, it was only made one year. I think it was in 2002 or 2003. I have tried the sites such as gunbroker and gunsamerica but not luck. Does anyone out there know of someone or somewhere I might have luck finding this particular model?
