Hi, I have been looking around and haven't found much on the 41 mag, I am curious as to the value this Ruger would have. It is a 4 5/8" barrel, 41 mag with a serial #2530. The grips from what I could find out are from Herrett shooting star line. I'm not sure how to grade, hopefully the pics will help. Thanks in advance.

Bump! I have still been looking around the net and haven't got much info. Is this model that rare? Or is it just run of the mill?

Patriot45,

Welcome to our forum! You have a standard old model Blackhawk in 41 mag. While not as common as the 357s and 44s, the 41 mag isn't particularly scarce. Yours has a nice, early non-prefix s/n, which adds a bit of desirability to it. Unfortunately, the grips hurt the value a bit since they are not original.

There were approximately 40,000 of the old model 41 mags made.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the reply. I searched out the grips because they were very comfortable when shooting. They went for $135.00 when they were made. from what I understand they aren't made anymore. I think it gives the gun a heftier look then the stock ruger grips.
A little background; I bought this from an Army surplus store about 12 years ago for $280.00. The guy I bought it from, when he was writing it up told me if he realized it was a 4 # serial number he would have kept it. It didn't strike me at the time but as I have bought more guns I realized First year low serial numbers are collectable.

As I have lost my business in January selling off my guns has been a priority. I am loathe to sell this but I'm down to this and a custom made Grendel. I just haven't been able to see like kind of revolvers for sale to compare to for a selling price.

Bob,

It occured to me that I didn't really answer your question about value. In the condition it is in, with the aftermarket grips, I would value it in the $500-$550 range.

I hope this helps,
