One of a kind knife

Post by chloe » Sun Jul 25, 2010 6:17 pm

I won this as a door prize where i work. I e-mailed the company that made it and they said" it was made as a sample for Ruger". Has anyone ever seen another one?

I have never seen or heard of one but I sure do like it. You did good!! If I were you, I would try to get a letter from the company stating that fact, it would be good to keep with the knife...provenance.

I had a knife expert at the Kittery Trading post look at it. He told me, that it was made between 1980 and 1990.The handle is off the highest quality he has ever seen. He said most of the white handles are faded yellow or chipped. It is also of a coffin design that they didn't do very many in. Said that the Marbles company kept very crappy records and have been sold to a company in Japan. This one is made in America. Also said it was the second best quality Marbles knife he had ever seen, only one better was by an eskimo knife builder that made 80 for Marbles.

You should definately try to get a letter from the company that made it. The more time that goes by the harder to verify.

I was told that they kept crappy records and if this was just a sample, that there would most likely not be any. All i have is the e-mail they sent me baCK.

I'd convert those emails to PDF files and store on a CD kept with the knife.

I have a similar knife produced for Marlin. Hi Quality 4my2centsworth.

If ever yor knife needs a new gunsafe to hang out in, let me know I have just the one... ;)
