Re: 1954 Ruger MKI

Your question about the box. From Chad Hiddleson's Encyclopedia of Ruger Semi-Automatic Rimfire Pistols: "15000 to 72301 in a yellow, red and black hinged "TARGET PISTOL" box with slick paper. 72420 to 307302 in a two piece yellow, red and black "TARGET PISTOL" box with slick paper." A hinged box is...

Re: 1954 Ruger MKI

A T678 MK I from 1954 should have a serial # in the 7xxxx range. One in collector grade condition (95% or better) should bring about $400. Some of these were made with "tapered ear" bolts and are worth a bit more. Look straight down at the top of the bolt. If the sides of the bolt taper in, in you h...

Re: Ruger Standard ???

Looks like you have a pretty good Mark I (T678 - Target, 6 7/8 inch barrel). 1981 was the last year of production for the Mark I. Thousands were made. Yours is probably worth $300, perhaps a bit more.

Original grip panels, both black plastic and wood, show up on E Bay and GunBroker frequently.

Re: South Carolina here

Your Red Eagle is a Type 9. These were made between June and August 1951, About 2,000 were produced. The Type 9 is basically a Type 8 but made with a blued trigger. These triggers were said to be leftovers from another project and they just used them. The serial # range on these (172xx - 219xx) is r...

Re: Ruger mk1

It depends ... With any Mark I, condition is the key. Collector grade pistols need to be in the 95 to 98% condition range. A number of Mark I's were made under government contracts in the mid 50's thru the mid 60's. The serial # would help identify the particular contract. Under the first contract (...

These show up regularly on GunBroker. They usually go for $450 - $500 or thereabouts. It is very important to have all of the original packaging and documents.
