I've seen several of these (Ruger .22 pistols) without a serial at all. Most were guns taken from the Factory by employees. Can't say on yours. It would not be in the Factory records.

The tale of the shipping carton. Side of book wrap reads: RSSM--X (I'm assuming X for 2 cylinders) SINGLE--SIX .22 WMR--WALNUT (for walnut grip panels) Letter comes back "RSSM, no extra cylinder. Every employee received a copy of this letter on the afternoon of July, 19 1991. After 42 years of firearms manufacture, by SR&Co., in Southport no guns produced at that plant after 7-19-91.
